October is an exciting month, Halloween!! Getting ready for spring Carnival racing, starting Christmas shopping but most of all it’s the month to recognise and give back to our charity partners National Breast Cancer Foundation and Look Good Feel Better.
National Breast Cancer Foundation is Australia’s leading breast cancer research foundation that raises money entirely by the Australian public. They help with reducing the deaths from breast cancer by funding world-class research that helps detect tumours and improve treatment.
Look Good Feel Better is a foundation that is dedicated to teaching cancer patients with managing the side-effects of cancer treatment. Giving patients confidence and readiness to face their cancer diagnosis. Their workshops cover skincare techniques, makeup tips and advice on headwear including scarf styling and wig selection.
As a team, we all feel strongly about these causes and wanted to help and make a difference, we not only wanted to raise money but also help build awareness to these charities, which are helping women even day in so many ways cope with what they are going through.
So, after a group discussion, we decided to dedicate a day for all things pink and to do $40 blow-dries which all proceeds would go to the charity plus we are donating half of the day’s takings.
This was our way of giving back on the client’s behalf as they give to us all year round with their loyalty, fun and laughs.
To bring attention to the day we sold pink cupcakes from our favourite, the cupcake queens and decorated the salon with pink balloons.
Clients loved it and everyone mentioned when they left they all felt good and loved being part of something so good. Do not worry, even though it’s just one day we still support these charities every day with our pink scissor program, helping support clients going through chemotherapy and beyond!
This year has been a massive success and we raised $3850!! We couldn’t be happier and can’t wait for next October to blow that figure out the water and try to get $5000!!!!
