Ever wondered how people slip out of work during lunch breaks for a quick run or gym workout session and come back with hair still looking fresh and amazing?
Well to give you the answer, we sit down with Art Director, avid runner and TONI&GUY Perth Central Salon Owner, Jude McEwen to tell you exactly how you can achieve amazing hair after your workout.
Q: So Jude, tell us how you first got into running?
A: Well I’ve always loved fitness & keeping fit, but it wasn’t until I had my beautiful baby girl Daisy that I got into running, for the sole purpose of losing that dreadful baby weight. Now, I love it so much I don’t go a day without running, and have just volunteered myself to run a marathon!
Q: Oh nice! Tell us about the marathon!
A: Well the marathon is in June, which is only a few months away now and it’s for a cause close to my heart! It’s to raise money for breast cancer research, a disease that I am very familiar with due to my mom. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, and we were fortunate enough that she won her battle and is still with us today! Having said that, there are plenty of people out there that have not survived this disease and it’s high time we found a cure for it!
Q: Very true! Where can people go to support this cause?
A: It’s simple! You just have to get onto https://give.everydayhero.com/au/jude-5 and pledge a donation!
Q: Amazing! Now let us in on the after workout hair secret!
A: The answer my ladies is two pronged – a product and a method! The product is the label.m Dry Shampoo and the secret to using this product is NOT during or after your workout, but BEFORE YOU EVEN BEGIN!
I get this question in my salon all the time, and I constantly teach my clients about prepping their hair before their run or workout. I always start by applying my label.m Dry Shampoo to the root of the hair and massaging it into the scalp. It’s best to do this before you run and before the sweat makes your hair greasy. A lot of people apply it after and by then it is already too late!
The second step is to NOT tie your hair up in a band too tight as this will leave an indentation mark in your hair post workout. The best way to avoid indents is to use bobby pins, or alternatively tie the hair up into a top knot. For the top knot, simply tie your hair up into a ponytail and wrap the hair tight around the centre creating a top knot. Then add some bobby pins to act as grips to keep it in place throughout your run or workout session.
When you finally get back to work after your session and take your hair out just re-massage your scalp give your hair a bit of a shake to get it back into place and it will be ready to wear.
And there you have it, the secret to a good hair day even after a run or a gym workout! To support Jude on her marathon initiative , remember to log onto – https://give.everydayhero.com/au/jude-5
