On Monday, the 9th of November, approximately 350 VIPs from the Australian hairdressing industry, fashion industry, media and staff of TONI&GUY Australia descended upon the vibrant surroundings of Taylor Square’s The Standard Bowl in Darlinghurst to celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated 2015/2016 TONI&GUY collection – ‘SOCIALIZED’.

Set up like a gigantic underground retro party infusing bar and bowling alley, the crowd were in high spirits as the models took to the podiums in a high energy live installation. Backstage was buzzing with artistic hair work being created by the National T&G Artistic Team, under the direction of National Creative Director Katy Reeve.

The ‘SOCIALIZED’ collection pulls influences from every corner of the globe, fusing together old and new and drawing upon fashion from designer greats such as Giles, Marc Jacobs, Christopher Kane, Alexander Wang and many others. The eight women’s cuts and colours and two men’s cuts are more dynamic than ever. The styles range from longer lengths with distressed textures, punctuated by overgrown eye skimming fringes to short graphic shapes featuring techniques like tight skin fades, strong angled disconnections and serrated graduations.

Colour makes a statement with a palette of saturated retro red, electric violet, sunset purple and dramatic high contrast such as warm white juxtaposed with pewter to heighten or compliment each style. A theme reflected within the clothes and make up, colour dominated, whether it ruled an entire outfit or was used to create a ‘statement lip’, it was about being bold.

The evening also featured collection launches by both label.m & Wella Professionals, and was mastered by MC Jesabel, with beats being provided by The Faders. Amongst the crowd were top hairdressing echelons including Emiliano Vitale, Lisa Muscat, Sandy Chong, and even X-factor favourite, Barry Conrad. The evening was also a celebration of 20 years of TONI&GUY in Australia with an award being presented to Managing Director, Dennis Langford and Director, Graham Langford. The brothers shared a nostalgic moment as they reminisced on the journey they have both walked from the time the first Oxford Street salon was opened in 1995.

Fashion stylist Jana Bartolo outdid herself with the styling of bold avant garde designer looks & stand out commercial pieces by designers such as Lee Matthews and Leah Williams to name a few.
TONI&GUY continues to fuse the art of hairdressing with the creativity of fashion in ‘SOCIALIZED’.

The term ‘SOCIALIZED’ really summed up the evening – a huge socialising party celebrating the collection launch, talented artistic hair work, and more than that – a milestone of 20 years for the global brand and its new directions moving forward into the next 20.
