TONI&GUY, voted the world's coolest hairdressing brand, has opened its 34th salon in Australia in Bulimba, Queensland.
Bulimba, with its funky lounge-style coffee shops, modern cinemas and a laid back, cosmopolitan atmosphere is the perfect place for TONI&GUY to open its newest salon. Less than five kilometres from Brisbane’s city heart and only minutes by car, Bulimba is one of Brisbane’s popular riverside suburbs. This green, leafy suburb has undergone a major transformation in the last 10 years.
Setting up shop on Wambool Street, just a short snip and cut from the centre of Oxford Street, the new salon is owned by TONI&GUY’s Queensland technical director Jhanda Avenell. The Bulimba salon is set to impress locals with the latest trends and styles direct from fashion headquarters – the UK. Jhanda said that owning her own TONI&GUY salon has been her ultimate career goal and dream since she began hairdressing thirteen years ago.
“It’s so exciting! I truly believe in every element of TONI&GUY, from our training academies, international fashion networks, high quality products and the support staff receives from our head office,” Jhanda said. Prior to opening her own salon, Jhanda was responsible for overseeing the technical direction and staff training for TONI&GUY Queensland. “My next challenge is to become the type of boss I have always wanted to be and to bring TONI&GUY’s international expertise into Brisbane’s suburbs” she said.
Jhanda invites all fashion and style fans to the new Bulimba TONI&GUY salon to meet her expert staff and to discuss TONI&GUY’s latest collection taken straight off the catwalk from London fashion week. “In this new season our Bulimba salon we be focusing on caramel tones, mocha brunettes and Irish setter reds with sexy wavy touchable hair,” she said.

How AMAZINGLY talented my co-workers are...We have so much fun!
Whats your favourite thing to do on your day off?
A sleep in and then a lazy day gardening with my husband and 2 dogs!!

I've been with T&G for 5 months and hairdressing for just over 7 years.
What's your favourite thing about hairdressing?
Hairdressing has opened up many doors for me creatively. I really believe in the positive impact emotions can grant; when we look good, we feel good! I love working with people and it so rewarding helping people look their very best!
Whats your favourite designer/label?
Internationally; Proenza Schouler, Opening Ceremony, Vivenne Westwood and Christopher Kane but I also love Vintage!
Whats your favourite hotspot in Brisbane?
Woodland in Brisbane, they always have great bands playing and Mugged in Bulimba...I LOVE COMPOS COFFEE!!

Tight Team! We work hard and play hard. We love making clients happy and its such a good feeling when we all finish work at the end of the day knowing we've created that!

The team i work with. Everyone is friendly and supportive - Its such an awesome, fun working environment and I get so much enjoyment out of seeing people look and feel their best.

Learning new techniques, watching and assisting the senior stylists/colourists. Also the Project 10 DVD-the hair and up-styles are amazing!

Talking to clients and creating a technique (whether it be cutting/blowdrying/colouring) and then it on someone to make them feel and look amazing!

Im a little social butterfly. I love catching up and going out with friends.
